GETTING THROUGH YOUR FIRST SEMESTER IN COLLEGE
The thought of getting into college is quite terrifying. You have to be away from home, be separated from your friends, be in an unfamiliar place; basically, you would not be in your comfort zone. Other than that, you would be pressured by the overwhelming requirements in college that is far from what you've experienced in high school. I also had to go through this difficulty in my first year. I remember how lonely I was whenever homesickness hits me or when I'm too tired from school; however I'm proud to say that I overcame it and even finished my first year in college with flying colors! I am hoping that other students will also overcome it just like I did which is why I will be sharing to you some tips on how to overcome your first semester in college by just a few tips!
1. Know the environment.
Before you enter in a university or a college, you must first look it up to see whether the environment would fit you or if you would be willing to be in it. You can use their website or any other platform to see the opinions of the students there. Getting to know the place a bit will help you feel more familiar with it, lessening the culture shock that you might encounter once you're in the university or college.
2. Don't be afraid of new things.
College is all about new things so if you let your fear stop you from doing the things that you want, then it will surely hold your performance back. Remember that even if you're still not used to it, it is always a sign that you can learn and improve in it. Remember that your need for a new environment means that you've outgrown your previous environment, which is why you need to step out of your comfort zone and continue to grow.
3. Be yourself.
Since you're in a new environment, you need to make new friends. Most people feel the need to try and fit in to gain new friends, but in reality, you just need to be yourself. You might gain friends by trying to fit in, but you will have difficulty in maintaining it in the long-run. What you need are friends who like you and who will stick with you for the way you are. Having friends like that will help you go through the difficulties in college.
4. Work hard.
Nothing beats hard work. If you really want to overcome your first semester in college, then hard work is a must. Even if you face through different obstacles in your first semester in college, you can overcome it through a little bit of perseverance and diligence.

No matter how difficult your problems may be, always know that you can do it and you can overcome it. Especially when you're in college, you'll learn how to do things on your own, so really need to trust in yourself. Have faith in others. You'll meet a lot of people throughout your stay in college, some people may be trust-worthy, while some may not be. However, you must learn how to have faith others in order to keep going. Lastly, have faith in God or in any Higher Being. Knowing that "someone" or "something" is greater than you are makes you grounded and will teach you how to overcome your problems.
